A Message from the CEO - Script

Fellow employees,

I want to take a moment to congratulate you all on a record breaking performance during the second quarter of 2011.  With over $37 million in sales, we were able to surpass our second quarter record of $32 million, set in 2008.  What is more impressive is that the $37 million in sales surpassed our projections for the quarter by over $6 million.

This quarter also marked our third full quarter of tracking customer satisfaction using Net Promoter Score.  Our overall NPS score for the three month period from April through June 2011 was 70.2, a continued improvement from when we first implemented the metric in October 2010.

One area of concern has been our manufacturing throughput.  Over the course of the quarter, our backlog increased to over $25 million, a number that we must improve on.  The implementation of the M.O.R.E. initiative for manufacturing efficiency will assist us in decreasing the backlog, inventory dollar days, and throughput dollar days.

With your continued efforts, I believe that not only will we be able to continue increasing sales and customer satisfaction through year end, but we will also be able to significantly improve our manufacturing and inventory control efficiencies.

  1. I like how you highlighted the metrics that your company did successfully then pulled in one metric that your company was under performing in. Good closing too- good way to inspire employees to work harder.

  3. Nice, including the projects specifically (MORE, NPS) and their progress really includes those that are a part of them or responsible for their implementation.

  4. I like how you mentioned an area of concern, but kept the message positive by discussing what was being done to address the problem. Your continual focus on the organization's positive actions and results instills within the employees an emphasis on high performance. This will help the organization continue to achieve success.

  5. I like that you started off with the positive, mentioned where you need more work, and then finished positive. It all seemed very honest and to the point. The numbers backed up what you had to say.

  6. David - I really liked how you highlighted both the good and bad. More often than not, operating results are not entirely positive. Further, by highlighting those areas that need to be addressed, you clearly outline the goals of the organization for future periods. Very well done!

  7. David,
I found your message to employees to be very professional. I like how you mentioned areas of concern but managed to keep the message positive with numerous attributes. Furthermore, I like how you address that the M.O.R.E initiative will assist in turning around the lacking areas this quarter. By highlighting the areas in which your organization needs to improve, you are essentially distinguishing future goals for the organization. Not only this but, I really enjoyed how the flow of your message. More specifically, I like how you started off on a positive note, touch upon areas of improvement, and then concluded on a positive note.
